From New Zealand to Global Racing

Kiwi-born and bred, my passion for racing began early — sparked by my father’s involvement in harness racing. Despite this, I pursued university studies in Accounting, Finance and Economics, laying a strong foundation for the business side of the sport.

Where Did I Begin?

While studying, I gained hands-on experience at Windsor Park Stud in Cambridge, where I worked across stallion coverings, broodmare care and foalings. This immersive role gave me a deep appreciation for the lifecycle of the thoroughbred and confirmed my commitment to a career in the racing industry.

To broaden my horizons, I applied for and was accepted into the prestigious Darley Flying Start (now Godolphin Flying Start) — a two-year international management program established by Sheikh Mohammed to develop future leaders in global racing.

Darley Flying Start

The program took me across the world: from placements with Mike De Kock in Dubai, where I experienced a transformative Dubai World Cup season, to working with the Darley Australia team during John O’Shea’s tenure as head trainer. These experiences offered elite-level insight into both training operations and global bloodstock strategy, deepening my understanding of international racing.

    Bjorn Baker

After graduating from Flying Start, I launched my professional career with Bjorn Baker Racing in Sydney, where I served as Racing Manager. I worked across training operations, owner communications, bloodstock and sales — contributing to the stables significant growth.

    Chris Waller

From there, I joined Chris Waller Racing at Rosehill, working alongside Australia’s most successful trainer. Under Waller, I learned the value of meticulous preparation, long-term thinking and the discipline that underpins consistent success at the highest level.

    Ciaron Maher

I also spent time managing a 60-horse stable for Ciaron Maher & David Eustace, one of Australia’s most dynamic training partnerships. This role sharpened my leadership skills and provided hands-on experience overseeing the day-to-day operations of a large, performance-driven racing team.
