The Sire

By one of Queensland’s Champion Sires in Better Than Ready - last season’s leading 2yo sire of winners in the state, and striking at an incredible 46.6% total winners to runners. His progeny are up and running early, and continue on as older horses. Recent stakes success include Group 1 Railway Stakes winner Port Lockroy, as well as Falvelon winner Hidden Wealth.

The Dam

I’m familiar with the family having trained his mother, Tavi L’Amour in the twilight of her career. She was a good looking mare who performed admirably on the racetrack before being retired to stud. She has produced a cracking first foal in this bloke and is a half-sister to the Joint Filly of the Year in New Zealand in 2018-19. From one of the best families in the New Zealand stud book, out of a Tavistock mare, out of a Danehill mare, out of a Sir Tristram mare.

A deep black type family!

Physical Notes

A strong first foal, the best physical by Better Than Ready I’ve seen all sales season. He has a lovely relaxed attitude, fantastic walk, good bone and athletic.

JBR Analysis

Compared to what you’d pay at home (either at Magic Millions January or March), this colt represents great value for a Better Than Ready from a strong black type family. He paraded relaxed, bright and alert every time we saw him.

QTIS eligible.

Video

Watch his parade video from Cambridge Stud.

He is from a great Sir Patrick Hogan family with a little Queensland flavour thrown in.

He is a strong, well-grown yearling for a first foal out of the mare and I look forward to training him.
